Deceiver Chronicles II: Epilogue
The passing of a legend

The Demonfall, Temple Island
With the La’ree Tor dead, the group left the temple island and headed back to the exit portal. As they raced through the yuan-ti island, bolts of lightning struck the ground next to them. As they looked behind them, they saw a legion of demons quickly descending upon them. They howled in anger and madness. Thousands of demons. The heroes looked to one another. “No good deed goes unpunished,” grumbled Ghesh.

Stepping through the yuan-ti portal, the group found themselves standing in front of a massive temple. The design upon the columns and walls depicted dragons. Based on the imagery, Darrin concluded that this must be a temple to the Winter Wyrm. The group looked at one another. Was this the right place to be?

After a full rest, the group gathered their belongings and headed to the portal. They said their goodbyes to Velero Hawk who promised to keep the portal open as long as he could. The venerable tiefling then opened the portal into the Demonfall. The Sunriders looked at one another with confident eyes and then marched through the portal.

With the hydra defeated, the group took a quick rest to recover their strength and then pressed onward down the trail, and closer to the entrance to the demonfall. The winding path eventually opened up to a area with a steaming river running through the center. Two bridges of stone provided passaged across the river. At the other end of the river were several creatures standing perfectly still. As they drew closer to the bridges, they animated to life. Two golems and three gorgons.

“Warlord Hawk will be out of it for a few days but I think he’s going to pull through ok.” said Darrin as he returned to the group sitting at a table eating. The rest of the group gave slow nods as they ate their food. It had been several hours since their return from the dungeons of Hawk Keep and like most adventurers, fighting makes them hungry.

With Ralma finally defeated, the group took a much needed rest. They dared not venture back into the heart of the Keep due to the vast amount of demons that still roamed the halls. They instead, displayed the dead and broken body of Ralma upon the balcony of Hawk Keep. The demons and tieflings fighting in the courtyard paused in their fighting to view the fallen Ralma. The loyalists of Masshiro gave a triumphant cheer and surged forward, renewing the fight with the demons. Darrin stumbled back to the throne room and plopped down to the ground, “I hope someone gets up here and rescues us now.” he muttered.

Tired, the group of Sunriders took a brief rest to catch their breath from the last fight. They discussed their next move in finding Ralma in the Keep. Crosz pointed out that, most likely, the Keep was filled with demon corrupted tieflings, and that if they kept up their pace, they would have little energy left to face Ralma. The rest of the group agreed and decided to slipped through to the next floor unseen and check out the strategy room.

With the tieflings defeated, the group took a breather in the library as they searched over the bodies for clues. Finding nothing of note, the group moved up to the door leading into the grand hall. Listening at the door they could hear voices talking but couldn’t make out what they were saying. Ghesh took the lead and throw open the door to catch several more tiefling in the midst of arming themselves.

With their portal key, the group made their way through the portal and exited in a warehouse. The large room contained a variety of boxes and crates stacked to various heights and stamped with different symbols of merchants. Torches provided some degree of light in the room. As they gathering their barrings, they heard footfall coming up towards them. As they braced for the worse, they saw a group of tiefling guards round the corner and saw a surprised look appear on their faces. “What are you doing here? Identify yourselves.” barked the head guard.

The vampire turned his head to each side, the sounds of his neck popping broke the silence of the two groups. Crosz gave a snarl as he took a step forward, “They are yours no longer.”
